House in Manazuru 真鶴の家
真鶴半島の高台に建つ週末住宅。築60年の木造の平屋に鉄骨造の庇を増築した。
相模湾を望む南面の窓は、既存建物の柱と壁を取り払い鉄骨のフレームで補強することで、幅8.1mの大開口化を実現した。深い庇によって日射を遮り、縁側空間の居住性を確保した。6mm厚の鉄板の庇が海と空の眺望を切り取る。

A weekend housing perched on the highlands of the Manazuru Peninsula. The project involved a structural intervention, adding modern steel-frame eaves to an existing 60-year-old wooden house.
To fully embrace the views of Sagami Bay, the south-facing side was transformed into a massive 8.1-meter-wide opening. This was achieved by removing original columns and walls and reinforcing the structure with a new steel frame. The deep eaves serve a dual purpose: they block intense solar radiation to ensure the comfort of the “engawa” space, while the 6mm-thick steel plates cleanly frame the horizon where the sea meets the sky.
