アートガーデンに設置されるバードハウスのデザイン。
建築の柱として使われる150mm角のヒノキの無垢材から中身をくり抜いてつくった。ふつう巣箱は板を組み合わせて作られるが、無垢材からつくることで屋根も壁も床もない究極にシンプルな巣箱が出来た。
A birdhouse design created for the Art Garden.
The birdhouse is crafted by hollowing out a solid 150mm square block of Hinoki (Japanese cypress)—a material typically utilized as an architectural column. While conventional birdhouses are assembled from multiple boards, this project employs a subtractive process to carve the form from a single mass. The result is a structure of ultimate simplicity, where the boundaries between roof, walls, and floor are dissolved into a single, monolithic object.
